Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, Serena grew up with a love for ballet, dance and movement. After graduating from Wilfrid Laurier University, with a B.A. in Honors Communication Studies, she moved to New York City to pursue a career in the marketing and advertising industry and found yoga as a means to de-stress from the pressures of the corporate world.
Over time, Serena realized her true love and passion for Yoga along with the desire to inspire and serve others. Serena completed the 200-Hour Pure Yoga Teacher Training and the 200-Hour Pure Yoga Mentorship Program, where she apprenticed under Kay Kay Clivio. To deepen her understanding of the practice, she completed a 300-Hour Jivamukti Yoga Teacher Training with world-renowned Yoga teachers Sharon Gannon, David Life, Jeffrey Cohen and Jules Febre.
Rated as one of the 50 Hottest Female Trainers in America 2014 by Shape Magazine, Serena has also been featured in Health Magazine, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, Shape, Well+Good, Hypebae, Furthermore, The Wall Street Journal, The Fashion Spot, W Magazine, Yahoo Beauty, and BuzzFeed. As well as online videos for Qinetic and Yahoo Health and has taught for Nike, the Nike Training Club, and Well+Good.
You can currently find her teaching in New York City, where her class style is based on the Jivamukti, Ashtanga and Vinyasa teachings. Serena’s classes are fun, sweaty and athletically challenging; yet emotionally and mentally healing. Combining power and flexibility with movement along with bandhas and breath to calm the mind and energize the body, Serena's students find the path of yoga to heal themselves physically and emotionally and seek personal fulfillment in their lives.
